It was crappy last night so we ended up doing a trainer session inside. It proved to me that I am woefully out of shape. In the past several months, I have almost never had to keep my legs spinning for a straight hour on the bike--coasting, stopping, waiting on people, mechanicals, etc.
As much as I try to avoid the hard, nasty truth, I cannot escape the fact that road biking immeasurably helps mountain biking.
I need to suck it up and do some road and trainer time this winter.

Road=YAY! :)
I will be glad to do some road riding with you this winter. I need someone to ride with or I'll just sit on my ass in the lab when I should be training...
thanks--to both of you.
I feel the same way about road riding. I know it helps immensely, especially in the areas I'm weakest in.
It's just not as fun, especially in winter (Is Jake nutz?). The past few years I've ridden my road bike about 3-5 times in Mar-Apr, when I can't ski anymore, and I feel a nervous need to get in shape quickly.
Now, throw pump trackin' into the mix, and I may never road ride again...
maybe my goal will be a half-hour nonstop on the pump track...
