Had a great day at the SSPBE09 yesterday. Fun ride, fun people, fun bikes. It's been too long since I've been on my SS. It's been too long since it's been operational. I forgot how blissfully quiet riding one can be--especially on the downhills. No chainslap, no squeaks, no nothing. Just tires bouncing off the trail, quiet smidgens of air time, and then the solid thud of the landings. Just pedal the damn thing. Need to do it more. Considering a Thudbuster to save my backside, though.
Donna had her first sustained 29er SS ride, too. She's drunk on the KoolAid now.

I was mid-pack all day. Which was fine by me. Had no idea what to expect and I don't have the legs to fight up there, anyway. I gained a couple points by picking up tabs that others dropped. Hey, it's punk. I gave them to Donna at the end. She finished third in the Women. Rode lots of fun trails--second time in Frederick and all more better new trails. How can you complain? Thanks to this guy for putting on a spectacular day. And to Camps for extending the invite.
