Residuals and Visuals

Big Bear 2009 is in the books. This year's version was a 4-Man Vet team. I am finally old enough to not race against 19 year olds. A curse or a blessing? Don't know. I'm apparently getting older, but I am not so sure about wiser.
Donna's Women's Sport team climbed to the top of the podium, as did we. Not bad for going into the race with no preconceptions about placing. As I told Don before my first lap, "Just going for a ride."
My teammates were great and our support was incredible. The other teams (MBM, SSOFT, FredRock) and friends around us really made the event. Not even the banging portajon doors could ruin it.
I tried to control my effort throughout the race. Thoughts of last year, my back, etc., always rolling through my mind. I did the whole thing on the rigid SS (well, there is a Thudbuster on it, so not really totally rigid.). The bike was good, the gear was good, not sure how good it was for me yet.
It was a good race. I was glad I helped introduce a few new people to 24-hour mountain bike racing. I'm glad they had good races.
Not sure what else to say. The residuals are catching up to me. Stretching, exercises, heat, ice, NSAIDs, repeat.
Hoping, watching, monitoring, evaluating.
